About Frodsham
The picturesque town of Frodsham is situated in the shadow of Frodsham Hill, in the County of Cheshire, in the northwest of England. It is a vibrant market town, and, in medieval times, it was an important borough and port belonging to the earls of Chester. The town is featured in the Domesday Book, which is a record of the great survey of much of England and parts of Wales, completed in 1086, executed for William I of England, or William the Conqueror.
The town is of Saxon origin and it is believed to have been created a borough, in the early 13th century, probably by Earl Ranulf III. It became a town in July, 1992, and elected its first Mayor. Since then, it has truly blossomed, fact which is evident, today, through the recent (post-2002) opening or modernisation of contemporary-style bar/restaurants, take-away food shops and public houses, and in the continued presence of small, specialised, businesses operating from town centre shops, approximated at a number of around 200.
Frodsham offers its visitors many facilities and opportunities for leisure and entertainment, which include popular outdoor and indoor sports events, The Community Centre and Castle Park Arts Centre, as well as the market held each Thursday, which evidences Frodsham's viability as a trading centre, drawing a large number of enthusiasts, every time it takes place.
